I have been to other practices for BOTOX, and every time a nurse practitioner was the one to inject.”—Botox patient, review from Wellness.com

How does Botox work?
Botox® Cosmetic is a purified protein; it treats mild-to-moderate frown lines and creases by temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause them. The most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment in the US, Botox® Cosmetic softens those unwanted lines that can make you look tired, stressed, and older than you like. After Botox treatment, you can look years younger.
Recovery & Results
This safe, effective treatment requires no surgery or downtime. Using very thin needles, the procedure produces only minimal discomfort and requires no anesthesia, although a cold pack or anesthetic cream can be applied if desired. The procedure takes only 10 minutes and the results are noticeable within days of treatment. Results generally last from 4 to 6 months for a soft, youthful look.
- Key Benefits
- Glossary
- Reduced Facial Wrinkles: Botox temporarily relaxes facial muscles, leading to a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, particularly around the eyes, forehead, and mouth.
- Prevents New Wrinkles: By inhibiting muscle movement, Botox can prevent the formation of new wrinkles, helping maintain a more youthful appearance.
- Non-Surgical: Botox offers a non-invasive alternative to cosmetic surgery for addressing signs of aging, with minimal downtime and immediate return to daily activities.
- Fast Onset of Results: While results vary, many individuals begin to see the effects of Botox within a few days of treatment, with full results apparent within two weeks.
- Botulinum Toxin: The full medical name for Botox, a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, used in small doses to treat various medical and cosmetic conditions by temporarily paralyzing muscles.
- Crow’s Feet: The fine lines and wrinkles that form around the outer corners of the eyes, often treated effectively with Botox injections to smooth out the skin.
- Daxxify: A newer neuromodulator approved for cosmetic use to reduce facial wrinkles, similar to Botox, but with a formulation that may offer longer-lasting results.
- Dynamic Wrinkles: Wrinkles that are formed by the movement of facial muscles, such as frowning or squinting, and are typically responsive to Botox treatment.
- Dysport: A brand of botulinum toxin that is similar to Botox, used to treat and prevent wrinkles by temporarily relaxing facial muscles.
- Glabellar Lines: The vertical frown lines found between the eyebrows, commonly referred to as “11 lines,” which can be minimized or eliminated with Botox injections.
- Injection Sites: Specific areas on the face or body where Botox is injected to achieve desired cosmetic or therapeutic results.
- Neuromodulator: A substance like Botox that affects nerve impulses to muscles, reducing their activity and thereby smoothing wrinkles or treating certain medical conditions.
- Neurotoxins: A broad category of substances, including Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Daxxify, that temporarily weaken or paralyze muscles to reduce wrinkles and treat certain medical conditions.
- Preventative Botox: The use of Botox injections at a younger age to prevent the formation of wrinkles and lines by relaxing facial muscles early on.
- Recovery Time: The minimal downtime required after Botox injections, with most patients able to resume normal activities immediately.
- Results Duration: The length of time the effects of a Botox treatment last, typically ranging from 3 to 6 months before follow-up treatments are needed.
- Static Wrinkles: Wrinkles that are visible without facial movement, usually not the primary target of Botox, which is more effective on wrinkles caused by muscle movements.
- Units: The measurement used to quantify the amount of Botox injected, with the required units varying based on the treatment area and desired outcomes.
- Xeomin: A type of botulinum toxin that is similar to Botox and Dysport, used to treat facial wrinkles by temporarily relaxing muscle activity.
Pain-free BOTOX injections with PRO-NOX™
While many non-surgical and minimally invasive treatments are tolerable to most patients, we want to make sure your experience is as relaxed and comfortable as possible. That’s why we now offer PRO-NOX as an add-on option for BOTOX treatment.
What is PRO-NOX?
Have you ever heard of “laughing gas?” We typically think of the dentist when we hear nitrous oxide, but its ability to help ease discomfort and make you feel calmer can be a benefit in many situations—including your next cosmetic treatment at Plastic Surgery Services!
PRO-NOX is a self-administered nitrous oxide system that gives you control of your own comfort during treatment. Simply breathe through the mouthpiece when you need a bit of a relief, and the PRO-NOX system will deliver oxygen and nitrous oxide. You’ll feel it take effect in a matter of seconds—and when you’re done, it will wear off just as quickly. With no lasting effects, PRO-NOX is a great way to ease your pain and anxiety and then get back to your day.
Ask us about including PRO-NOX during your next appointment or contact us for more information!
